Helotes sits on the northwest edge of San Antonio along Bandera Road and Loop 1604, about 20 miles from downtown. It keeps a small-town identity with an Old Town district, sits within Northside ISD, and offers the closest Hill Country feel to the city with homes broadly in the $300s to $600s.
You get limestone bluffs and live oaks, an Old Town with hometown parades, and a commute to the Medical Center or UTSA that is genuinely quick. Being on the Loop 1604 corridor means access to shopping, dining, and the rest of the city without living in the middle of it.
Helotes is served by Northside ISD, one of the largest and most highly rated districts in the area, with dozens of campuses and rich program offerings. Because Northside covers a huge geography, I always verify the exact feeder schools for a given property.
The Helotes market spans the $300s to the $600s, from established oak-shaded neighborhoods to newer construction near the edges of the Hill Country. Buyers get more land and more scenery than closer-in city neighborhoods for a broadly similar price point.
